The province is ramping up enforcement of public health orders to ensure more people are following its mask mandate and social gathering restrictions.
24 new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday.
640 new cases of the disease were also confirmed.
There are 9,950 active cases of COVID-19 across the province.
362 patients are in hospital, with 91 in intensive care.
B.C. has administered its first COVID-19 vaccines.

In a statement to the media, the ski resort said it has a zero-tolerance policy for staff members found breaching its policies around social gatherings and to that end has let go some of our employees. Big White says that staff have to adhere to a Social Responsibility Contract and sign a Daily Health Declaration. Among many things the health declaration mandates staff sign that they have adhered to the government s rules relating to social gatherings at all times both on and off duty.

A fire in an empty building on the West Kelowna waterfront made for a lot of smoke yesterday afternoon. The old packinghouse, which had more recently been turned into a boat storage shed, was being demolished at the time of the fire. Fire chief Jason Brolund says sparks ignited materials and it took off, prompting a big turnout from all West Kelowna fire halls. There were no injuries.
Mount Boucherie Estate Winery in West Kelowna is closing down some of its operations for the next two weeks. On its website, the winery says a wine shop employee tested positive for covid-19 and it is closing the restaurant and wine store until the 27th to allow employees to self isolate at home. It says there is very little chance of public exposure as the employee mostly worked in the office.

KELOWNA, B.C. - Big White Ski Resort says it has fired a number of staff after a cluster of 60 cases of COVID-19 was discovered earlier this week.
Michael Ballingall, the senior vice-president for the Kelowna, B.C., resort, says in an email reply the staff were let go either for violating the provincial health officer s orders or the resort s own contracts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
