– Metro UK recently spoke to NXT tag team champions MSK (Wes Lee and Nash Carter), who discussed joining WWE, the meaning behind their team name of “MSK,” and more. Below are some highlights.
Wes Lee on the meaning behind MSK: “‘t’s us. MSK is Wes Lee and Nash Carter. It’s what we stand for. It’s who we are. It’s what we do. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a mentality.”
Wes Lee on wanting to keep the fans guessing: “It’s like our matches. You never know what to expect from us. People identify us as highflyers, but that’s not all we do. ‘We learned highflying because that’s what was exciting to us, but we know how to punch somebody in the mouth, we know how to snap an arm. We know how to get gritty and nasty as well – so you never know what you’re gonna get with us.”
Three matches have been added to the card for next week s NXT episode.
- The NXT Cruiserweight Championship will be on the line as Kushida defends against Santos Escobar in a two-out-of-three falls match on NXT next Tuesday. Kushida became champion by answering Escobar s open challenge three weeks ago and defeating him to win the title.
On last week s NXT, Legado del Fantasma (Escobar, Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde) defeated Kushida & NXT Tag Team Champions MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) in a six-man tag match. That match was set up when MSK saved Kushida from an attack by Legado del Fantasma the previous week. The attack happened after Kushida issued his own open challenge and defeated Oney Lorcan to retain the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

Riddle Me This, Orton: Last week, these two put on a banger of a match that, although not surprising, was very much welcomed. This week, we got the two teaming together to continue the old vet/new rookie dynamic. Commentary being shocked that Orton didn’t RKO Riddle to hell was kind of dumb, but on brand. I enjoyed their match with Cedric and Shelton, even if it only hammered in the nail on their coffin just a little more. I also had minor issues with the RKO, because although I love a good From Outta Nowhere, Cedric didn’t even pretend to do some sort of move, and rather just jumped off the corner as if th
A new match has been added to the lineup for this week s NXT.
WWE has announced that Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher will face The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) on NXT this Tuesday night. Both teams have stated that they want to challenge MSK (Wes Lee & Nash Carter) for the NXT Tag Team titles.
On NXT last week, The Grizzled Young Veterans cut a promo calling themselves the leaders that the NXT tag team division needs. Gibson said they re soon to be recognized as the next NXT Tag Team Champions. Ciampa & Thatcher then interrupted The Grizzled Young Veterans. Ciampa & Thatcher also wanted to challenge MSK for the NXT Tag Team titles. The segment ended with Ciampa & Thatcher attacking Gibson & Drake.
NXT Hits
Kushida and “MSK” Wes Lee and Nash Carter vs. “Legado del Fantasma” Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, and Raul Mendoza: A strong six-man tag match that did a great job of putting heat on the heel trio. In doing so, they also set up a pair of title matches with Escobar going after the NXT Cruiserweight Title that he lost to Kushida, while Wilde and Mendoza presumably earned an NXT Tag Title shot by giving MSK their first loss.
Mercedes Martinez vs. Dakota Kai: I wasn’t sure whether Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai turned babyface going into this match. Gonzalez had been all smiles since winning the title, and Kai facing heel Martinez really made me wonder. But the Gonzalez attack on Martinez seemed designed to cement the duo as heels, while presumably turning Martinez babyface. Martinez is a strong heel, but fans should have no trouble rallying behind the longtime independent veteran.
