Sheridan man who reportedly attacked officer charged SHERIDAN A Sheridan man who reportedly punched and placed a Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputy in a choke hold is facing a host of charges. The Sheriff’s Office on Thursday announced the arrest of 37-year-old Adam F. Rice on charges of second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment. Deputies picked up Rice on a warrant check Thursday at a Route 20 residence in the town of Sheridan. The Sheriff’s Office said Rice allegedly “physically attacked a Sheriff’s Deputy; punching the deputy and by placing the deputy in a choke hold.”

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ¯ SILVER CREEK Michael A. Acosta-Padilla, 21, of Buffalo, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Deputies stopped a vehicle at 11:46 p.m. Monday in the village of Silver Creek for a traffic violation. Marijuana along with a semi-automatic pistol, two magazines for that pistol, and several rounds of ammunition were located inside the vehicle. An investigation found that Acosta-Padilla was allegedly in possession of the firearm, ammunition and marijuana. He was transported to Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. ¯ WESTFIELD Joel E. Rammelt, 58, of Westfield, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, failure to keep right, moving from lane unsafely, uninspected motor vehicle and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Deputies stopped a vehicle at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday on Route 20 in the town of Westfield for multiple traffic violation.
