County leaders say their offices continue to be deluged by calls about the COVID-19 vaccine, which is in short supply. Saying they, too, are frustrated, they’re asking residents to be patient.
Democratic Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan says he continues to be frustrated by the slow vaccine rollout. Last week, New York state received 300,000 vaccine doses for a pool of some 7 million eligible New Yorkers. This week, Ryan notes, the state received 250,000.
“What does that mean in Ulster County? Well, it means two things. Number one, it means, more than anything, we need more vaccines. We need more vaccines,” Ryan says. “We need them now, and the only entity capable of upping this is the federal government, and so I want to be very clear that the responsibility lies there.”
County Executive George Latimer Instructs DSPS to Assist County’s Seniors Navigate Vaccine Appointment Process Written by Westchester County
Westchester County Executive George Latimer has instructed the County’s Department of Seniors Programs & Services (DSPS) to use all available resources to help the County’s senior population navigate the vaccine appointment process.
DSPS has an information and assistance phone line that is available to assist Westchester’s seniors on weekdays from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m at 914-813-6300.
Latimer said: “As we have been since day one of this crisis, County government has an all hands on deck approach to help Westchester through this unprecedented pandemic. DSPS stands ready and able to assist our aging population so they can feel comfortable navigating the vaccination process.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer is proud to announce the promotion of Blanca Lopez, M.S. to serve as the County’s new Assistant Director of Operations.
Currently, Lopez serves the County as an adviser on Fair and Affordable Housing. She also serves as liaison to various county departments such as Planning, Probation, Correction, Emergency Services, Human Rights Commission and the Office for People with Disabilities. Since June, she has also served as the Team Leader for Staff Liaisons for the County’s Police Reform Task Force.
