Two men surfing on Easter Sunday have died after being pulled unconscious from the ocean, in separate incidents in northern NSW.
The first drowning occurred at Killick Beach at Hat Head just after 4pm, where a man was retrieved from the surf in an unresponsive state.
Other surfers and beachgoers began CPR until police and paramedics arrived, however the 64-year-old was unable to be revived and he died at the scene.

A man has been taken to John Hunter Hospital after a serious motorbike accident in Port Macquarie.
The 35-year-old sustained serious leg, chest and back injuries in the accident at the Dahlsford roundabout on Ocean Drive last night.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital, before crews from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter were called for an urgent transfer around 8 o’clock this morning.
Staff from the John Hunter’s medical retrieval team were able to stabilise the man before flying him to Newcastle where he will remain in hospital for further specialist treatment.

Two men have died after being pulled from the water while surfing in separate incidents in northern NSW on Easter Sunday.
Other surfers and people on Killick Beach at Hat Head, on the Mid North Coast, began CPR on a 64-year-old man after he was found unresponsive just after 4pm.
NSW Police said he could not be revived and died at the scene. An autopsy is expected to be conducted this week to determine his cause of death.

Police have confirmed a 25-year-old woman died after going overboard from a charter boat and suffering fatal injuries on Auckland s Waitematā Harbour.
Investigators from Maritime NZ and police are today working together to understand the circumstances leading to the woman s death in the incident about 5.15pm yesterday.
The police today confirmed the woman was on board a Zefiro Charters Ltd boat at the time.
