Elderly man flown from rural property by rescue helicopter

Premium Content Subscriber only An 87-year-old man is at Lismore Base Hospital after paramedics from Ambulance New South Wales and Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter gave him urgent medical treatment. It is understood a road ambulance was called around 7.30am on Monday, to an address in Oak St, Bonalbo. According to Ambulance NSW, the man, 87, was suffering from a medical condition, Around 8:40am this morning the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was tasked by New South Wales Ambulance to the incident. The patient was treated on scene by NSWA paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical team. The man, 87, was then flown to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

Body of missing snorkeller found at Altona Beach | Maribyrnong & Hobsons Bay

Goya Dmytryshchak The body of a missing snorkeller was found off Altona Beach on Monday, renewing calls for water safety. The 20-year-old Ashwood woman had been in the water with family and friends when she went missing on Saturday morning, police said. Family members raised the alarm about 11.15am. Victoria Police and Life Saving Victoria helicopters had scoured the water over Altona and Seaholme, joined by Water Police, specialist divers from the Search and Rescue Squad and others. LSV assisted with its lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers, the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, a drone, two jet skis and two inflatable rescue boats from Altona Lifesaving Club.

Manly Beach and Surfers Paradise evacuated after shark sightings

Massive crowds of swimmers were also ordered out of the water twice at at Main Beach in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast on Tuesday after two sightings.  Lifeguards were seen blowing whistles and refusing to allow surfers into the water after at 10am, and again 45 minutes later after a two-metre bull shark swum into the area.  Swimmers were ordered out of the water as sirens blared at the popular tourist beach, while lifeguards encouraged people to move to the nearby Manly Harbour

The first sighting was at around 10:00 am (Queensland time) at Surfers Paradise. The lifeguards on duty were quick to blow their whistles and immediately started refusing entry into the water because a bull shark was reportedly seen swimming around the area. Before they decided to let the patrons return to their swimming, however, just 45 minutes later, another shark sighting was seen in the area. In the first sighting, the shark was reportedly seen attacking a school of baitfish swimming along with a pod of dolphins. It still remains unclear if the two sightings were from different sharks. 15 minutes after the second sighting, when the shark reportedly left the beach, Surfers Paradise s patrons were then allowed to return to their swimming. But, beach authorities still continued to patrol the area on their jet skis.
