The 15th annual Tent of Abraham will be hosted at the Muslim Community Center (Islamic Center) at 745 Heim Road in Amherst at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 (Ramadan 17, 1442). To register for the event, please RSVP by emailing WNY Muslim Public Affairs Counsel with the number guets in your party.
He says this year MPAC has created a COVID-cautious version of the Tent of Abraham, which typically involves a walk, donations to local food banks, and a meal. This year, the walk will be socially distant, the meals boxed, and masks worn except when eating.

“I’ve learned in life that you can have as many sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts, and family you want by adopting people in the community who generate love,” says SaVanna Wanzer. “Whoever gives you love, you give that love right back to them.”
Wanzer’s life is all about love, from her personal relationships to her advocacy on behalf of her beloved transgender community. But acceptance has not always come easily to the 58-year old trans activist and health educator. While Wanzer’s identity was accepted by her birth and adoptive mothers, and some extended family members like uncles and aunts, most of her siblings struggled to accept her.

They join other scholarship winners in accepting their awards and introducing themselves during the luncheon: Mia DePolo and Haley Qin, Upper St. Clair; Isabella Folino, Peters Township; and Ross Gardner, who lives in Green Tree and attends Central Catholic High School.
Pastor K.O. Noonoo, who was recently selected to lead Topeka s Westminster Presbyterian Church, didn t intend to pursue ministry when he moved to the U.S. from Ghana in 1990.
In fact, when he settled in Jamestown, North Dakota, to attend what is now known as the University of Jamestown as an international student, Noonoo planned to study computer science. I soon discovered, though, that I did not start (computer) programming early enough, so I opted for something called management information science, he said. It had enough business in it, not too much programming so I could make that work.
He graduated with that degree; married his wife, Anna, in 1995; and moved to the Chicago area to start a family. He also began studying for the certified public accountant exam.
