(UK Serious Fraud Office) The SFO has charged biodiesel trader Gianni Rivera with fraud and money laundering in connection with its investigation concerning the sustainable fuel sector.  Rivera, a former employee of Greenergy, is charged by the SFO with two counts of fraud by abuse of position and one count of money laundering. The central allegation is that, while agreeing trades between Greenergy Fuels Limited and a Dutch trading partner, Biodiesel Kampen BV, he received payments from the director of that company, Cornelis Bunschoten. On a number of occasions, a portion of the monies he received was transferred back to companies linked to Bunschoten.

The observations were made by the court while delivering the verdict on the extradition of fugitive businessman, Nirav Modi. The UK court also set aside arguments that the Indian judiciary was compromised. The Westminster Magistrate s court which ordered the extradition of Nirav Modi to India rejected the expert testimony given by Katju in the case. He had alleged that the Indian judiciary was compromised and that Nirav Modi will not get a fair trial in India.

Jessica Cosson was one of dozens of people to appear at a special corona court sitting today, in which magistrates were told of several lockdown breaches.  The 29-year-old admitted being told by police to leave when spotted drinking in the capital in November, but refused to do so.  Under lockdown rules at the time, people could buy alcohol through click and collect or other remote methods of ordering, but were not allowed to congregate once it was picked up.
