A NEW £2.5 million modular state-of-the-art operating theatre and recovery area at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary is equipped with a safe and resilient critical power system from Bender UK. Ulverston-based Bender UK also supplied specialised theatre equipment including LED operating lights, services pendants supplying medical gases, power and data, the theatre touchscreen panel which controls theatre services, and the large hi-def PACS screen for viewing patient scans, X-rays and other images. The new theatre was built to provide capacity that enables four existing operating theatres at the RLI to be refurbished and upgraded without disrupting clinical activity. The project was managed by the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust Capital Services Team.
Delight as Covid-19 vaccine comes to Furness General Hospital THE first health workers at Furness General Hospital have received the Covid-19 vaccine. Staff working across the Morecambe Bay hospital trust have been given the PfizerBioNTech vaccine at Barrow s hospital. A 60-year-old nurse was the first member of staff to receive the vaccine at FGH. In line with national guidance, the trust is offering the vaccine to clinically extremely vulnerable patients, patients over 80 years of age, care workers and staff, starting with colleagues who are at higher risk from Covid. The online mental health survey looks to examine how the Covid-19 crisis has impacted people’s mental health and to seek resident’s experiences with local mental health services. The mental health ward at Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal, the Kentmere Unit, has been closed throughout the pandemic. The Health Business Awards are now in their 11th year and have established a reputation for recognising excellence in the National Health Service. This yearâs awards were held live online on Thursday 10 December and presented by GP and TV presenter, Dr Hilary Jones.
