Man shot during 2013 burglary sentenced to 8 years in prison RICHMOND, Ind. A man who was shot during a 2013 burglary attempt has been sentenced to eight years of incarceration. Stephen Gaskey Jr., 53, pleaded guilty to Class B burglary under the Indiana criminal code in effect when the burglary was committed. The plea agreement he reached with the Wayne County Prosecutor s Office required a 12-year sentence with four years suspended to probation. The standard sentence for a Class B felony is 10 years with a sentencing range of six to 20 years. The Indiana legislature later adopted the six-level felony system currently in use.

Inmates at the Rockville Correctional Facility in the Oakland City University Culinary Arts program got the chance to stray from their typical curriculum to make a kind gesture for the staff at Indiana State Prison. Indiana State Prison is grieving the loss of one of their own, Lt. Eugene Lasco, who died after being attacked by an inmate on Feb. 21. To show their concern for Lasco s colleagues, the students in the program sent homemade cookies to Indiana State Prison staff.
