Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church will have an Ash Wednesday service in its parking lot.
The service at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 17 will be broadcast by radio to those in lot of the church at 1447 Merrit Road. Crosses made of palm fronds will be handed out so they can be placed in a Bible or prominent place at home to help focus on the meaning of Lent.
Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer and fasting for Christians and marks the start of Lent, a six-week period of penitence that leads up to Easter.
