Tyhe Hunt County Sheriff s Office has issued a statement concerning a Thursday morning shooting near Quinlan which left one person seriously wounded:
On May 13, 2021 at approximately 11:34 am, the Hunt County Sheriffâs Office Communications Center received a call of shots fired in the 9900 block of Private Road 3820, Quinlan. The caller advised there was one victim that had suffered a gunshot wound. Deputies arrived on the scene to find a forty one year old male that had a gunshot wound to the neck. AMR arrived on scene and treated the victim, which was later flown by air ambulance to a Dallas area hospital.

An attorney has been appointed for a Hunt County man, charged with murder in connection with setting a fatal fire in Greenville last month.
Kerith Gilstrap, 42, of Greenville is being held in the Hunt County Detention Center in lieu of $1 million bond on one count of murder and had filed a writ of habeas corpus, seeking a defense counsel to represent him on the charge.
During a Friday morning hearing in the 354th District Court, Judge Keli Aiken granted the appointment of a defense attorney for Gilstrap.
No additional hearings were immediately scheduled.
On the morning of April 13, personnel with the Greenville Fire-Rescue Department were dispatched to a report of a fire at a residence in the 4800 block of Bourland, which resulted in the death of Christopher James Hawkins, 43, of Greenville.

A trial in a Hunt County capital murder case, which had been scheduled for jury selection later this month, has been postponed until early next year.
Brooke Ashley Craig has been charged with capital murder involving the shooting death of a Greenville child. Craig, 30, also faces lesser included counts of murder and manslaughter in connection with the Dec. 28, 2017 death of Kaden Green, 7.
Trial had been scheduled to start last September, but was reset as no jury trials being conducted at that time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Kaufman County man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, charged with sexual assaulting a child and child trafficking.
Cristobal Martinez-Godinez, 26, of Terrell was arrested at his home by deputies with the Hunt County Sheriffâs Office on three indictments filed by the Hunt County grand jury.
Martinez-Godinez was being held in the Hunt County Detention Center Thursday morning on a total of $550,000 bond on one indictment with two counts of sexual assault of a child and one indictment for child trafficking-engaging in sexual conduct.
Each of the indictments appear to have been issued sealed from the grand jury when it met for its April session, pending the suspectâs arrest and arraignment on the charges.
