St Louis County Tax Forfeited Land Auction Nets $764,000

St. Louis County Tax Forfeited Land Auction Nets $764,000 You could say that it was virtually a good week for St. Louis County taxpayers.  The Tax Forfeited Land Auction that ended on February 11 resulted in $764,000 in total sales.  That dollar amount adds directly to the bottom line of the county s budget - resulting in financial benefits for taxpayers. In total, 29 properties were sold during this most-recent auction.  Twenty of those properties had competing bids that resulted in sales that closed above the original listing price.  Some examples provided by St. Louis County include a 17-acre parcel located near Birch Lake in Unorganized Township 6112 - which sold for $151,000 representing a selling price more than five times the original listing price; a house in Ely sold for $47,150 - representing nearly $20,000 more than its original list price.

Duluth s GDC Starts New Downtown Table Talk Series

The Greater Downtown Council is starting a new free series called Downtown Table Talk. It s another series the Greater Downtown Council is using as a mentor program and I see it helping local business people. With everyone being able to share ideas and being able to ask questions about business and what s going on in the business community. On Wednesday, February 24th at 9 am, the first meeting will take place and will be a virtual event. The programs will feature Duluth Professionals either sharing their skills and special talents or providing people with the information to stay up on what is going on in the community around them.

We Found Ridable Snowmobile Trails In Northern MN This January

On a year where we needed to get outside and enjoy the outdoors more than ever, mother nature really hasn t been kind to us. We had a mild start to the winter, with not much snow. We were hopeful that the storm before Christmas was going to be an indication for a good snow season, but so far that s been about it for the Duluth / Superior area. This last weekend we got a couple of inches, but it still hasn t been enough for local snowmobile trails in the Duluth / Superior area. So with the lack of snow and the amount of money we put into our machines every off season, that left us with a search of where we could drive to and find ridable trails. The Douglas County snowmobile reports said that the trails were in fair condition, especially as you head a little further south in the county away from Lake Superior. That was an option for us. I also did see that there has been some friends of mine riding in certain sections of the U.P.
