An Amber Alert was issued Friday night as authorities were looking for a Fairfield youth reported missing. The alert was issued around 9 p.m. as police were attempting to locate 9 year old Alli Matthews of rural Fairfield. She was believed to have been taken by Teresa A. Hill (Milner) and had last been seen in a 2012 Ford Focus. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook page that Matthews was in protective custody and is healthy and unharmed, and that Teresa Milner had been taken into custody. The Amber Alert was cancelled around 11 p.m. Friday.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1573 cases of the coronavirus Friday and 20 additional deaths, bringing the state’s total numbers to 1,373,457 cases and 22,556 deaths in all 102 Illinois counties. The latest numbers from the Wayne County Health Department indicated 1788 total positive cases for the county with 22 residents isolating. The health department did not release an update on Friday.

Through Wednesday, 21,768 Wayne County residents one-third of the county s population are fully vaccinated. Another 1,572 residents have received their first dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, so about 35% of the county s population has received some vaccine.
Even as vaccination eligibility has expanded to age 12, the number of vaccine doses administered to Wayne County residents each week has trended down. In the first three days this week, 235 doses were administered. Jetmore said vaccinations are trickling to an end in the county.

The FCHS Board of Education will meet tonight at 6 in the school study hall. It is scheduled to hear a presentation of the amendment proposal of the 2020-2021 budget and motion to move the June meeting to the 24

Illinois State Police District 19 Commander Captain Nathan Douglas has announced the results of a Nighttime Special Traffic Enforcement Patrol and Roadside Safety Check in Wayne County from this month. Troopers reported 10 total citations and 42 written warnings in the sTEP Patrol and eight citations and 33 written warnings for the safety check.
