Southgate man charged with murder in wife s shooting
A 32-year-old Southgate man has been charged in connection with his wife s murder, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Thursday.
Ryan Arthur Hilton is charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and two counts of felony firearm in the death of 31-year-old Amanda Marie Hilton.
Ryan Hilton was arraigned Thursday in 28th District Court in Southgate and remanded to jail. Hilton s probable cause conference is scheduled for Jan. 15.
Hilton contacted the Southgate Police Department Jan. 1 to report his wife missing from their apartment in the 14500 block of Northline, according to the prosecutor s office. She was last seen at the Hiltons apartment Dec. 31.

DETROIT – Two public viewings of Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon will be held this week, following his death after a weeks-long battle with COVID-19.
The public can pay their final respects to Napoleon, who served as Wayne County sheriff for more than a decade, today, Dec. 28, until 8 p.m. at Swanson Funeral Home, 806 E. Grand Blvd. in Detroit, according to the funeral home’s obituary page. A second viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W. Seven Mile Road in Detroit. Face masks and social distancing are required at both events.

DEARBORN, Mich. A Dearborn police sergeant facing a lawsuit over the fatal shooting of a black man in 2015 has died, authorities said.
Sgt. Chris Hampton, 33, took his life Nov. 25, according to the Wayne County medical examiner, Dearborn Heights Times-Herald reported. A funeral was held following his passing.
“This is a tragic situation for our department, our community, and for the family of our fallen officer,” Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement the day Hampton died, Detroit Free Press reported. “As we grieve as a law enforcement family, please respect the privacy of the family during this extremely difficult time.”
