ORRVILLE Join the public library this summer for a wild adventure.
The theme for this year s summer reading program is Tails & Tales, and it kicks off June 1. The reading adventure will continue throughout the summer, ending Aug. 14, and many of the library s activities focus on animals big and small.
Readers of all ages can track their reading using the online platform, Beanstack. A free account can be made through the library s website, www.orrville.lib.oh.us, or at orrville.beanstack.org. There also is a Beanstack Tracker app to download.

CARTERVILLE (WSIL) In this edition of Pets of the Week, there are two cats and multiple dogs, including puppies up for adoption.
Celeste was found at a barn with two companions. She is about 2-years-old and is spayed, microchipped, and has her rabies shot. Celeste is also friendly, and her coloring is stunning, which goes with her sweet personality. If you are the right match for Celeste, her adoption fee at PAWS Adoption Center in Anna is $100.
Archie is a male Hound-mix who is about 2-years-old. He likes to walk and play, but he also enjoys being petted and fed as well. If you would like to meet Archie, he s up for adoption at the Wayne County Humane Society in Fairfield.

It is the final weekend of January and, while the weather outside might be frightful, there are plenty of activities to do both live and virtually.
The Salt City Market in downtown Syracuse finally opens on Friday, children’s singer Laurie Berkner will be singing at a virtual concert to support the CNY Diaper Bank on Saturday, and there will be a history talk about some of the famous shipwrecks from the Thousand Island region.

If you want to get out, Beaver Lake will be having skiing and snowshoeing under the moon this weekend on its ten miles of trails.

Moonlight Skiing and Snowshoeing at Beaver Lake
The ten miles of trails at Beaver Lake Nature Center will remain open late this weekend (until 9 p.m. and if there is adequate snow on the ground) to allow skiers and snowshoers a chance to enjoy them under the stars and moonlight. Organizers ask participants to sign in and out and bring a friend and a flashlight. Social distancing when necessary and masks are required.
