Horse-drawn utility tractor, car collide on state Route 226, one dead

Staff report Clinton Twp. – One person is dead after a car collided with man operating horse-drawn farming equipment Friday on state Route 226 west of Newkirk Road. Eli A. Miller, 33, of Big Prairie, was killed in the crash, according to a news release from the Highway Patrol. According to the Patrol s release: Miller was operating a John Deere utility vehicle pulled by two horses when it was struck from behind by another vehicle. The impact sent Miller into the windshield of a 2008 Acura RDX.  Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner s Office. The driver of the Acura, Lisa J. Mast, 42, of Millersburg, was transported to Wooster Community Hospital. Mast was wearing her seatbelt.

Rittman: Man takes his own life in front of police

RITTMAN  A man who police say had been involved in a domestic incident before driving away later killed himself as investigators were trying to convince him to give up his gun. According to a news release from Rittman police, Matthew I. Morgan, 34, died in the parking lot of an apartment complex off East Sunset Drive around 8 p.m. Tuesday. Rittman police said they had spotted Morgan as he drove into the lot in a silver Jeep. The Wayne County Sheriff s Department had put out an alert to locate the driver and vehicle following a domestic incident outside of the city in Wayne County.

47-year-old Lynn woman dies when train strikes car in Greens Fork GREENS FORK, Ind.  A 47-year-old Lynn woman was killed Monday morning when a train struck her car. Tonya Rader died at the Water Street scene, according to Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter in a news release. She was traveling to a family member s residence in Greens Fork. About 5:50 a.m. as Rader was southbound on South Water Street in a gold 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, a westbound train struck the vehicle on its driver s side.
