In honour of Black History Month, the Probation Association of Ontario decided to launch a research project into the province s first Black probation officer and discovered the story of Windsor s Lew Taylor.

About this Event
Dr. Anan Ameri is a scholar, author, activist, and community organizer. She is the founding Director of the Arab American National Museum (AANM) and Palestine Aid Society of America. She holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Jordan, an MA from Cairo University, and a PhD from Wayne State University in Detroit. She was a fellow at the Bunting Institute of Radcliffe College, a visiting scholar in Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University, and served as Interim Director of the Institute for Jerusalem Studies. The recipient of numerous awards, Anan was inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in Lansing, Michigan in 2016 and received ACCESS’s Arab American of the Year award in 2020. She enjoys writing and has authored and edited several articles and publications. She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Overview
It is widely recognized in many industries that sustainability is a key driver of innovation. Numerous companies, especially large ones that made sustainability as a goal, are achieving clearly more competitive advantage. The metal finishing industry, however, is clearly behind others in response to the challenging needs for sustainable development.
This research project aims to:
Create a metal-finishing-specific sustainability metrics system, which will contain sets of indicators for measuring economic, environmental and social sustainability,
Develop a general and effective method for systematically sustainability assessment of any metal finishing facility that could have multiple production lines, and for estimating the capacities of technologies for sustainability performance improvement,
