One suspect arrested in large Van Buren County meth bust

(Photo courtesy of Jeana Gondek) VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) One suspect is in custody after a large meth bust that occurred in Van Buren County Monday morning. According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received an anonymous tip around 7:39 a.m., which stated that a female driver was traveling from the Lawton area with a large amount of Methamphetamine. According to the caller, the driver was in a silver Buick and was on her way to make a delivery in Decatur. A vehicle matching that description was found with the female suspect as the sole occupant. Consent to search the vehicle was given, and deputies found drug paraphernalia as a result.

Opioid Awareness Billboard Campaign In Van Buren County

January 28, 2021 There are billboards in Van Buren County with messages for parents, guardians, and the public as well on keeping medication out of the hands and mouths of kids. Specifically, the messaging targets opioids and the need to keep them locked up and safely disposed of. Van Buren Community Mental Health is using a grant from Van Buren County Families Against Narcotics chapter. The grant brought collaboration between Van Buren County FAN, Van Buren County Substance Abuse Task Force, Van Buren Community Mental Health, and the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office to provide an outdoor billboard campaign in Van Buren County to help protect community members from opioid abuse. One dead, one injured in house fire

One dead, one injured in house fire VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. One resident was killed and another suffered minor injuries in a house fire Monday evening, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office. First responders were called to the home in the 45000 block of CR 653 at 7:15 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a person near the entryway to the residence as smoke billowed from the doorway. Deputies and troopers with the Michigan State Police assisted the resident out of the house. Deputies and troopers attempted to get the other person to exit the home, but were unsuccessful.
