Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yolanda Orozco, in the lawsuit brought by former Congresswoman Katherine Hill, granted The Dhillon Law, Inc.’s client RedState.com editor Jennifer Van Laar’s special motion to strike Plaintiff’s Complaint as an unlawful Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation (“SLAPP”).
“The Court got it right in this groundbreaking decision,” said Dhillon Law Group, Inc. partner and attorney, Krista L. Baughman. “Former Congresswoman Hill’s lawsuit sought to punish our client for her truthful and accurate reporting of images suggesting that the Congresswoman had engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a paid staff member and used illegal drugs. Speech related to the character and qualifications of our elected leaders enjoys the highest protection under the First Amendment, which is why California’s new law carves out liability exceptions for speech related to matters of public concern. The Daily Mail published a story on the things that aren’t in Hunter Biden’s book but were on his laptop.
It’s a dive down a rabbit hole into some really dissolute behavior on the part of Hunter Biden.
But there are a few things that stand out, beyond all the drugs and the sexcapades.
First, the forensic experts that the Daily Mail employed to determine the validity of the laptop, Maryman Associates, confirmed that, in their opinion, the laptop drive “appeared to be authentic” based on all the timestamps, the nature of the information and there was no evidence of tampering. Now, there probably wasn’t any doubt in anyone on the right’s mind that it was in fact Hunter’s laptop, but these forensic experts are now affirming it.

A British tabloid did not violate California’s revenge-porn law by publishing intimate pictures of then-Rep. Katie Hill without her consent, a judge ruled on Wednesday.
The Daily Mail’s news gathering and publication of images depicting a nude Hill brushing another woman’s hair and holding a bong are protected by the 1st Amendment, and the content of the pictures was in the public interest because of Hill’s position as an elected official, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Yolanda Orozco wrote in a decision that dismissed Hill’s case against the Daily Mail.
Hill vowed to appeal.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A reporter who co-authored a story featuring nude photos of Katie Hill one with a female campaign staff member and another in which Hill holds a bong appearing to contain marijuana was dismissed as a defendant in the former congresswoman s revenge porn suit today by a judge who cited First Amendment grounds.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yolanda Orozco found that reporter Jennifer Van Laar, in writing for the Daily Mail, had shown the photos were matters of legitimate interest involving a public official because they addressed Hill s character and qualifications for her position.
A California state court dismissed a lawsuit by former U.S. Rep. Katie Hill (D-CA) against the UK
Daily Mail on Wednesday in which she sued the publication for publishing “revenge porn” photos of her with a female staffer.
As Breitbart News reported in October 2019, the RedState blog and the
Daily Mail published the photos, which were apparently leaked by Hill’s estranged husband. Hill resigned over the affair, though not before casting her last vote to impeach President Donald Trump.
In December, as Breitbart News reported, Hill sued RedState and the
Daily Mail, among others. Liberal constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley, while sympathetic, criticized Hill for “seeking a radical extension of liability for the media.”
