PPEC members donate $12,950 to 8 local organizations

PAULDING, Ohio Members of Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative recently donated $12,950 to eight local charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Operation Round Up program. About 80% of PPEC members round up their electric bill and donate those pennies to this fund, making a huge impact in the co-op’s northwest Ohio and northeast Indiana communities.
Participating members round up their monthly electric bill to the next dollar, with the extra pennies being used to help fund charities and groups in their communities. Each quarter, the funds are dispensed to local causes that applied for funding.

VAN WERT Bruce and Julie Kennedy of Van Wert recently donated to the
Van Wert County Humane Society’s capital campaign and their plans for a
new shelter/adoption center on Fox Road.

“Every stray animal deserves a second
chance at finding a good home,” stated Mrs. Kennedy. Sealscott added,
“We are grateful for those who share our vision for the neglected,
unwanted and abused animals in our community.”

Lauren Black, a sophomore at Van Wert High School and owner of “Lauren’s Culinary Confections,” has donated $500 from her business to the Van Wert County Humane Society’s capital campaign.
“Lauren generously wanted to support our project, as well as give back to the community that has supported her,” said Campaign Chairperson Michelle White.

Black’s business started as a booth at the Market at the Wass at Wassenberg Art Center and has expanded to social media on Facebook, where people place orders.

progressed and the Humane Society has announced a timeline for
construction of an animal shelter/adoption center on Fox Road.
Currently, the society has reached 85 percent of their goal of $600,000.
“We are in the home stretch,” reported Deb Sealscott, board president.
The
Humane Society purchased 1.76 acres on Fox Road over a year ago. Their
capital campaign began last winter with the goal of raising $600,000.
