George Ripley, director of the Wareham Free Library, has accepted a new position in Westport.
Town Administrator Derek Sullivan announced that the town was going to have to search for a new library director at the May 11 Board of Selectmen meeting.
Sullivan said Ripley will be “taking over in Westport,” but did not specify when his last day as director of the Wareham Free Library would be.
“George has been a great asset for the last two years,” Sullivan said, before wishing Ripley “the best of luck.”

The Wareham Free Library is now open to all without an appointment from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Inside the building, patrons can pick-up held items, browse the stacks, register for a library card, borrow materials, use public computers, make photocopies, or send faxes. Those using public computers must bring their own headphones.
Library patrons must follow safety protocols and social distancing requirements.
The library will continue curbside pick-up for patrons who do not wish to enter the building from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Five minute appointments can be made to pick up items by calling the circulation desk at 508-295-2343. At the library, patrons should park near the entrance and open their trunk, rear door, or passenger window to receive items.
May activities at the Wareham Council on Aging

WAREHAM - While the Council on Aging Center remains closed, a few outdoor activities will take place weather permitting. The Council is looking forward to the Center opening soon. Announcements will be made in the local media and on Facebook.
Coffee and Conversation takes place each Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the rear of the Multi-Service Center. Get reacquainted or meet new friends.
May Garden Therapy do-it-yourself kits, created and donated by the Wareham Garden Club, will be available for pickup at the front of the Wareham Free Library on May 14, between 10 and 11 a.m. The number of kits is limited, so call to reserve as soon as possible at 508-291-3130.
