But now a revised proposal from Blackburn-based Islamic organisation Dawat-e-Islami will be considered by councillors. Blackburn with Darwen Council Planning Committee has been recommended by officers to approve the scheme despite seven objections. A two storey dilapidated red brick barn in its rear yard would be demolished if planning permission is granted.

Smith went missing in a March 1969 incident. Bob Smith, no relation to William, designed the new frame for the POW/MIA chair displayed in the Town Hall lobby. At the request of Rolling Thunder, a group which advocated awareness of our military members “who have yet to come home.” Recently, Smith and Chairwoman of the Middleboro Select Board Leilani Dalpe placed the new picture frame on the chair.

The three-alarm blaze in Middleborough started shortly before 6 p.m., spread across two buildings on Wareham Street and was eventually extinguished nearly three hours after it began, according to a statement from the town’s fire department. “This was the third significant fire the Middleborough Fire Department has responded to in two days,” Middleborough Fire Chief Lance Benjamino said in the statement. “Thankfully, no injuries have resulted, and we’ve been able to call on several departments in the area to support our firefighting efforts.”
