Year of living virtually: Covid, climate, and the rocky road to Glasgow

18 December 2020 Climate change doesn’t stop for COVID-19, but the climate negotiations have. Ever since the first meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP) in 1995, national and European Union negotiators have typically met at least twice annually. At these conferences, delegations have taken decisions on implementing the United Nations Climate Convention and have adopted new agreements (the Kyoto Protocol in 1997 and Paris Agreement in 2015). The AFCIA targets a broad range of potential finance recipients, including governments, non-governmental organisations, community groups, young innovators and other groups. The AFCIA will provide small grants to developing countries to support innovation for effective, long-term adaptation to climate change and is part of the Adaptation Fund’s Innovation Facility (please click here for more information). The AFCIA will focus on producing two of the expected results of the ‘Strategic Focus 2 (Innovation)’ in the Adaptation Fund Medium-Term Strategy 2018-2022 (please click here for more information), which are:
