ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. Beginning Monday, March 8, Wayland Union High School will be moving to remote learning due to an increase in school-linked COVID-19 cases.
The Allegan County Health Department recommended the transition after an uptick in cases that did not stem from one household or close contacts with one another.
There have been three identified outbreaks of two or more cases in a 14-day period among students.
During the two weeks, all extracurricular activities including athletics will be postponed or cancelled. Students will return to in-person learning on Monday, March 22, 2021.
East Grand Rapids High School Goes Virtual After COVID Outbreak
East Grand Rapids High School students will be learning remotely due to what Kent County Health Department is calling a substantial COVID-19 outbreak.
According to Wood TV 8, the school s first case of COVID-19 was confirmed about a week ago. The school shared on its website that as of Friday afternoon, there were 24 confirmed cases.

At this time, the confirmed cases are students; no staff are reported as having tested positive.
Many, but not all, of students who have tested positive are on the boys varsity basketball team, Wood TV 8 reports. The next four games have been postponed.

non-fatal shootings and 13 homicides due to gun violence within Kalamazoo city limits in 2020. Overall, there were 14 homicides in Kalamazoo: three in Portage, two in Kalamazoo Township, one in Oshtemo Township and one in Richland Township, bringing the countywide homicide count to 21.
