Motorway service operator Roadchef is to hire 1,000 staff as it braces for surging road traffic in a summer of staycations.
The firm has kicked off a major recruitment drive at its 30 pit stop sites over the next three months, as restrictions ease across the country and more people begin travelling to see family and friends.
New roles are expected to range from entry-level posts to manager positions.
Boss Mark Fox said the roads had been very quiet over the past year as lockdowns prevented all but essential travel.

Children have been warned that their future careers could be jeopardised by offensive old tweets and comments, as police are recording thousands of them as non-crime hate incidents.
Since 2014, more than 2,000 non-crime hate incidents have been recorded against under 17-year-olds, The Telegraph can reveal, which can show up on an enhanced DBS background check carried out by employers.
Non-crime hate incidents are actions of “hostility towards religion, race or transgender identity” and must be recorded even if there is no evidence of the hate element.

“Levelling up” seems a long time ago. Boris Johnson won his whopping election majority on a campaign to Get Brexit Done, then revitalise parts of the country that felt left behind by the prosperous capital.
Now new elections are on the way – the local and regional votes that were delayed by Covid in 2020.
So how is levelling up going?
