March 8, 2021 Maine Dept. of Labor Restarting RESEA Program for Unemployed Mainers Select claimants will begin receiving information about the restarted program on March 14. AUGUSTA - On March 14, the Maine Department of Labor is restarting the Re-Employment Services and Eligibility & Assessment (RESEA) program. RESEA is a program that provides qualifying Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimants with one-on-one coaching and relevant services to help them in their reemployment journey. The Department last offered the program from 2015-2017. We know that many people have struggled to make ends meet during the pandemic. As the economy improves, we can help you connect with new job and training opportunities, Commissioner Fortman said. The RESEA program will help you develop an individualized plan to achieve your career goals.

Unemployed Mainers will get $600 COVID-19 relief payment, Maine DOL says Governor Janet Mills has authorized the use of $25.2 million in CARES Act funding to provide about 40,000 unemployed Mainers with a one-time relief payment of $600. Governor Janet Mills authorized this payment the night of Monday, December 21 under a new Pandemic Relief Program (PRP). It will use $25.2 million in CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds. This program is designed to help Mainers who are without work and facing economic hardship as a result of COVID-19.

December 10th, 2020 | by: Stu Marckoon Ambulance Contract (Ellsworth) – Ellsworth residents could find themselves without ambulance service depending on how negotiations between the city and the only private emergency ambulance service in the area work out.  Northern Light Transport is asking the City of Ellsworth to pay a per capita fee like many of the surrounding communities.  The Ellsworth American reports city officials are balking at adding the contract to the budget.  The city currently houses the ambulances and crew at the fire station, but that will change next month when the ambulance service relocates to a private building.     (Corinna) – Firefighters from six departments rushed to Corinna last night as a sawmill caught fire.  WVII-TV reports damage to Yoder’s Custom Sawing is extensive in the production area of the mill.  The blaze broke out around 7-thirty last night.  One firefighter suffered minor injuries.  The fire marshal
