Tribal students studying in government-run Eklavya Model Residential Schools will get a special Khadi dress designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) here, Union minister Arjun Munda said on Tuesday. The Tribal Affairs Ministry will purchase 6 lakh metres of Khadi fabric worth Rs 14.7 crore from Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in 2020-21 for this purpose, he said.
A pact has been signed with KVIC in this regard, Mr Munda added. At present, there are 73,000 tribal students studying in such schools in 23 states. “There was no standardised school uniform design for students in these schools till now. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, has designed a dress with a distinct logo and color scheme, and the best available khadi cloth will be sourced from KVIC,” Mr Munda said.

Launching the MSME Support and Outreach programme in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that MSME sector gives maximum employment after the agriculture sector. He said, if agriculture sector is backbone of the economy, MSME sector is the strong steps of the economy which gives power for progress.
Minister for MSME Nitin Gadkari said, MSME sector contributes to 30 per cent of GDP and 48 per cent to exports.
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik
BHUBANESWAR: With an aim to help the pandemic-hit micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved a package of Rs 289.42 crore that includes a number of assistance measures.
The assistance measures include interest subvention, top-up subsidy, reimbursement of state GST and waiver of annual institutional maintenance charges, which would benefit around 2 lakh MSMEs, said an official statement.
“The package has been announced at benefiting a range of entrepreneurs, mostly women and weaker sections of society, in the MSME sector of the state to recover from the unexpected challenges by the Covid-19 pandemic. MSME sector generates huge employment opportunities,” said an official.
