The Thompson Salvation Army were surprised they were able to raise $50,933 in December despite only putting out a few Christmas kettles due to COVID-19.
Normally, many kettles would be set up in the malls and businesses around Thompson. This year, the kettles were not manned because of the pandemic and therefore, the Salvation Army did not expect to meet their usual target much less to surpass it.

In 2019, they managed to raise $48,000. In 2020, they exceeded their previous donations by approximately $3,000.
