Dorothy Bruce

Dorothy Bruce On June 16th, 1931, Paul and Eva Thorsen welcomed their fourth child and second daughter on the family farm southwest of Gordon, Nebraska.  They named their baby girl Dorothy Alice.  In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into the world by her two older brothers, Don, Dwight, and her older sister, Esther.   Dorothy attended country school through the 8th grade and in 1945 started her freshman year at Gordon High School.  She eventually graduated with the GHS class of 1948. In the spring of 1948, Dorothy enrolled at Chadron State Teachers College and began work on a teaching certificate which she completed in 1950.  Following her teacher education, Dorothy taught in several country schools east of Gordon.  In the early 50s, she enrolled in Midwest Bible School and it was while attending Bible School that she met a dashing young man named Morey Bruce. The two began a courtship which eventually led to engagement and marriage on May 17, 1953.

Julie A Gall

Julie was born October 28, 1949, in Rushville, Nebraska to Dexter and Alice (Galbraith) Winter. She graduated from Rushville High School and went on to attend the Lincoln School of Commerce.  On July 11, 1970, she married Joseph A. Gall in Lincoln. They made their home in Schuyler where Julie worked at the Schuyler State Bank until their children were born. She then became a loving daycare provider for many area children, many with whom she still is in contact with to this day. She had her Shaklee business for over 25 years. Her special undivided love was her family,, especially her children, parents and siblings. She was always there to offer a helping hand or words of encouragement. She gained strength from her love of family and God. She was the rock her children leaned on for encouragement and moral support to achieve anything they wanted to do in life. She enjoyed helping Jeff and Jason in their business endeavors. She picked up the love of crafting after her children were gro

Archie F Collins

Archie F. Collins, age 82, passed away January 10, 2021, in Hot Springs, SD at the Seven Sisters Living Center surrounded by his family. Archie was born on July 25, 1938, to Archie and Wynfred Collins. After graduating from high school in 1956, he honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. After discharge he attended Chadron State College for one year before purchasing a ranch west of Hot Springs, SO, in 1960. While pursuing his life-long dream of ranching, Archie also worked at Evan Post and Pole in Pringle, SO, and the uranium mill in Edgemont, SD. During his 55 years of ranching, he was also a Vermeer dealer for 40 years and a Dew-Eze dealer.

Lois May McConaughey Wiley

Lois May McConaughey Wiley Lois May McConaughey Wiley was born November 1, 1947 to Joe and Sarah McConaughey.  Lois grew up on the family ranch west of Merriman with her older brother Jim.  She spent her youth riding horses and helping with every aspect of the ranch.  Lois was a gifted horsewoman and a neighbor once said it was good to see her along when working cattle because Joe and Jim were often on a colt but Lois would always be in the right place at the right time.   Lois enjoyed rodeoing and was a competitive barrel racer and breakaway roper.  She left the ranch briefly to attend a year of business college in Rapid City however found that she was happiest back on the ranch and returned.
