The application period for three schemes closed at midnight on Monday of this week (May 17), namely the Basic Payments Scheme (BPS) ; the National Reserve/Young Farmers Scheme (YFS); and the new Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM).
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has now finalised the number of applicants to each of these schemes.
BPS
For the BPS, the department confirmed that 128,742 applications had been received since the scheme opened to applicants on February 18.
After the scheme was opened, farmers should have received a BPS information pack via post containing maps, land details and a ‘help sheet’ to assist in applications.

The window to apply for applications to the Basic Payments Scheme (BPS) – as well as other schemes – will close today (Monday, May 17).
The BPS remains open for applications until midnight.
Applications must be made through the department’s agfood online portal. EU regulations have required all applications to be carried out online since 2018, so there are no paper applications.
After the scheme was announced in February, farmers should have received a BPS information pack via post containing maps, land details and a ‘help sheet’ to assist in applications.

The Department are operating extended hours on their helpdesk up until the Basic Payment Scheme closes for applications at midnight on Monday 17 May.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine are operating extended opening hours during the final application period for the 2021 Basic Payment Scheme, as well as a number of other annual schemes. The Department’s helpdesk (076 106 4420) will be available from 9.15am to 9pm on Friday and between the hours of 9.30am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The helpdesk will be available from 9.15am to midnight on the closing date of Monday 17 May. As well as the Basic Payment Scheme the Monday 17 May deadline is also the final day to apply for Transfer of Entitlements, Young Farmer / National Reserve Schemes, Straw Incorporation Measure, Areas of Natural Constraint and the Protein Aid Scheme.
The Areas of Natural Constraint Scheme (ANC); and
The Protein Aid scheme.
Applicants should note that they must register for www.agfood.ie as a first step before they can complete their applications. Those who have not yet registered should this do this as soon as possible.

Between 9:15a.m and 9:00p.m from Monday, May 10, to Friday, May 14;
On Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and 16 from 9:30a.m to 5:00p.m;
Between 9:15a.m and 12:00a.m on Monday, May 17.
