Four counties host mass drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic at COTA
The four county judges working to put this on said this is a major step in getting COVID-19 vaccines out to the community.
AUSTIN, Texas - A mass drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine clinic was hosted Saturday at Circuit of the Americas, the result of a collaboration of four counties, Travis, Hays, Bastrop, and Caldwell.
3,000 vaccines were set to be distributed. As cars came in, people waited in line, drove through, and got their shot. Then, they waited for 15 minutes in a separate parking lot to make sure they didn t have any reaction.
With winter weather conditions expected to last through at least Thursday, and electricity and water loss expected to continue, Becerra said all county operations will remain closed.

Hays County on Monday began inoculating residents with the COVID-19 vaccine after receiving doses for the first time last Friday.
Texas began delivering the doses to counties in mid-December. It is unclear why Hays County had not received any vaccines prior to last week.
On Friday, the county received 1,950 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said in a news conference Friday. The doses weren t available until Monday because they were frozen and needed to be processed by medical personnel before the vaccinations began.

New restrictions are set to take effect in Hays County as soon as Monday, Jan. 11, following seven consecutive days of rising COVID-19 hospitalizations. As outlined in Governor Abbott’s Executive Orders GA-31 and GA-32, bars must close, elective surgeries may need to be rescheduled and many businesses must reduce their occupancy to 50 percent.
