Pandemic dominates the year 2020

The coronavirus pandemic, protests over the police killing of George Floyd, the Blue Ridge fire, lockdowns, and the closing of schools rocked the Chino Valley and the rest of the nation during this extraordinary year. The devastation was matched by the goodness of residents who helped school children cope with social isolation, collected food and items for those hit hardest by the pandemic, and rallied around frontline healthcare workers. Barely had the year begun when the coronavirus pandemic originating in Wuhan, China spread across the globe resulting in 334,000 deaths in the United States by the end of the year. There were 11 deaths in Chino Hills and 70 in Chino, with 26 of those at the California Institution for Men in Chino and one at the California Institution for Women.

CG residents concerned about burrowing owls as construction continues

“I started keeping a closer eye since seeing what happened at Villago,” Hagan said. Back in August, volunteers were contacted to dig out a nest that was found collapsed with tire tracks over it on land in the Villago community. The location of the burrow is in a field behind the G Diamond Ranch and Cottonwood Ranch communities.

David Boies Asks $23 Million for 1,100-Acre California Ranch

Prominent litigator David Boies is listing his sprawling Northern California ranch for $23 million. Known as Diamond B Ranch, the property comprises about 1,100 acres in Lower Lake, Calif., about 100 miles north of San Francisco. If it sold for its asking price, the sale would be the most expensive ever recorded in the county, according to Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty, one of the listing agencies. Mr. Boies, 79, said he and his wife Mary Boies bought the property, then a rundown ranch where Arabian horses were raised, in 1990 and built the main house, a three-story log home, soon after. It is one of six homes; there are several guesthouses and a home for a resident horse trainer.
