Jan. 8 A Whatcom County man reportedly threw a bag containing a handgun, ammunition, heroin and methamphetamine out a car window while leading law enforcement on a chase Tuesday evening in an unsuccessful attempt to get away. The Whatcom County Sheriff s Office booked Shawn Eric Linn Sivo, 38, into Whatcom County Jail Tuesday, Jan. 5, on suspicion of second-degree assault, attempting to elude a police vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm, reckless driving, unlawful possession of a firearm and driving with a suspended license. Jail records show he is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Jan. 7 A resident of the encampment outside Bellingham City Hall reportedly assaulted a Whatcom County facilities and maintenance worker in a restroom inside the Whatcom County Courthouse Wednesday morning. The Whatcom County Sheriff s Office booked Emmanuel Nathaniel Gonzalez, 33, into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a prisoner, tampering with a fire alarm and five counts of possession of a dangerous weapon. Deputies responded at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 6 to the courthouse for the report of a fight, according to a sheriff s office news release on the incident.

Bellingham police booked Gregory Scott Mosley into Whatcom County Jail Dec. 23 on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault, and jail records show he is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. Officers were called to the hospital at approximately 10:06 a.m. Dec. 23 for a report that Moseley had assaulted a nurse, Lt. Claudia Murphy told The Bellingham Herald in an email.

Dec. 18 A 2019 Homeland Security investigation into the sharing of internet child porn led to the arrest of a Whatcom County man for allegedly possessing and dealing sexually explicit images and videos of children. During interviews with investigators, the man said he was trying to remove the images and video and that he was attempting to hide it away from the world and not ever let anyone see it again, Whatcom County Superior Court records state.
