Tamim said they should not follow the style of other countries rather they should create their own style of cricket, considering their team culture, strength, weakness and other factors. According to him, where their team strength lies, they should focus on that and that should be called as their ‘brand’ of cricket. The stylish left-hand opener in fact wants to go with ‘Bangladeshi Brand of Cricket’ in the first ODI against West Indies tomorrow at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. In fact he would make his debut as regular captain of Bangladesh ODI team with this match.

With the series against West Indies with which Bangladesh made a return to International cricket following a 10-month long Covid-19-induced break coinciding those two occasions, Akram said, the board has taken a commendable initiative to mark the series.

But they ended up playing only two Tests due to the pandemic-induced break as the cricket around the world experienced an unprecedented scenario almost throughout the year. Still there are some highs and lows. Winning the Under-19 World Cup was a landmark achievement for Bangladesh cricket that made the year something to savour amid the COVID-19 mayhem.
