A 1959 Hillman Minx series 3a has been a treasured part of the Beston family of Shanklin for 33 years. Michael Beston explained: My wife first saw the vehicle for sale in a local newspaper when we lived in Kent in 1987.

I also learned to drive in a Hillman, so the attachment seemed quite natural. We viewed the car a few days later, and we both fell in love with it right then. The car had covered very little mileage and was in extremely good original condition, albeit, a little neglected. We could both see the potential in the Minx, and after a very short negotiation with the owner, we bought our first and only 1950s classic car time capsule.

A TALE of being stuck in isolation Rapunzel was the obvious pantomime choice for 2020. Being in Tier One meant the traditional panto at Shanklin Theatre could go ahead – albeit with a one-way system around the auditorium, a very socially distanced audience, and no opportunity to shout out the traditional oh no you didn t type phrases. The audiences had to wear masks throughout, but that aside, it was FAB-U-LOUS to be back in front of a stage, watching a live performance.
