Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde said that the party respected the demand. Earlier the Congress, ally of the Shiv Sena in the Maharashtra government, had said that changing names is not part of the common minimum programme. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)’s Jayant Patil had also said that these demands are coming from Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as the Shiv Sena supremo. As far as the NCP is concerned, it does not believe in such demands.
