Feb 14, 2021 GREENVILLE, Pa. A recently approved agreement between Thiel College and Sharon Regional Medical Center-Sharon Regional School of Nursing has led to a collaborative program that will graduate students with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Students will begin taking classes in the fall at Thiel College. Students in the program will be Thiel College students, but will be admitted to both Sharon Regional’s Registered Nurse program and Thiel College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Students in the program will be active members of the Thiel community and eligible for all student life programs and athletics. Students in the program who meet the requirements will get an R.N. through Sharon Regional and complete additional coursework at Thiel College to graduate with a B.S.N.

An uphill battle: Push to have Black people vaccinated faces many hurdles Updated Feb 13, 2021; When Farrell resident Michael Wright and his wife went to Sharon Regional Medical Center a couple of weeks ago for the COVID-19 vaccination, he noticed many other senior citizens who were likewise waiting to receive the shot. But he noticed something else during his visit: He and his wife were the only Black people in the group waiting for a second dose of the vaccine. Wright, 67, said that might have been a matter of timing, but studies from around the nation indicate that Black Americans are less likely to receive vaccinations than their white counterparts.

Jan 29, 2021 HUBBARD On a crisp Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2021, Donald Paul D’Andrea, 80, passed peacefully surrounded by family. Donald was born March 6, 1940, in Youngstown, the son of Lucia D’Andrea. His mother passed when Donald was only 4 years old. He was raised by Samuel and Pauline Manno. He was a graduate of East High School, class of 1958. After graduation, Donald went to work in the construction business, retiring as senior vice president of a local major construction company. Donald was giving in nature. He was instrumental in establishing the Nicky Necastro Children’s Cancer Fund, which aided numerous children and their families in the Youngstown / Sharon area. Donald also was a dedicated athlete. He ran many local races, including the International Peace Race. He also participated in numerous marathons and triathlons, the most challenging being the Minnesota Border to Border Triathlon. Donald and his partner, Brian Danilov, completed the race by runnin
