Tazim, Ujjal to lead SUST Officers Association
SUST Correspondent : The election of Shahjalal University Officers Association, an organization of officials of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, has been held. Out of the total 11 posts in the election, the pro-Awami panel including the president-general secretary has won 7 and the pro-BNP-Jamaat panel has won 3 posts.
Deputy college inspector, Tajim Uddin for the post of president and general secretary administrative officer, Sirajul Islam (Ujjal) has been elected.
The results were announced at 11 pm on Sunday by the Chief Election Commissioner, Deputy Registrar AFM. Salauddin. Earlier, polling was held from 10 am to 4 pm.
25 out of the 28 UK returnees test negative for Covid-19 in Sylhet

25 UK returnees in Sylhet test Covid-19 negative a day after testing positive

Twenty-five Bangladeshis out of the 28 who arrived in Sylhet from the UK five days ago tested negative for Covid-19 yesterday, just a day after they tested positive.
Their results came back from the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) lab last night.
On Monday, the reports of the 28 UK returnees were found positive. Later, the authorities concerned sent their samples to SUST lab for retest, where the results of the 25 returnees came out negative, said Sylhet Civil Surgeon Premananda Mondol.
SUST started Semester Final Examination Following the Hygiene Rules
SUST Correspondent : Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has started the semester final examination of Masters and 4th-year students in compliance with the health rules. As per the decision of the Academic Council meeting, after the winter break, examinations of different departments are being taken from today, Sunday (January 17).
During the examination at 10 am, Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed inspected the examination hall of the students of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEB). He expressed his satisfaction and thanked the teachers for arranging the examinations in compliance with all the hygiene rules.

Bangladeshi researchers published more than 8,000 scholarly articles in international journals with impact factor in 2020 - which is third in terms of the number among South Asian countries.
An online magazine, Scientific Bangladesh, published the annual report on scientific documents of the country on January 2, analyzing the data of Scopus, a citation database of peer-reviewed literature including scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.
The impact factor, also known as Journal Impact Factor (JIF), is a metric used to evaluate the relative importance of a journal.
According to the report, the scholars of the country published 8,140 articles and other documents in 160 peer-reviewed and impact factor journals. The number was 6,363 in 2019, while it was 5,234 in 2018.
