A Topeka man has pleaded no contest to crimes involving child pornography.
Thomas Faulkner, 21, entered that plea March 24 to two counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a child involving possession of media of a child, according to Shawnee County District Court records. The State believes this a fair and just resolution to this case, special prosecutor Brandon Jones told The Capital-Journal in an email Monday.
Jones, who is county attorney for Anderson and Osage counties, filed a complaint Nov. 4 in Shawnee County District Court charging Faulkner with 13 counts of possessing video of sexually explicit conduct involving a child under 18 years old, or a person Faulkner thought to be a child under 18 years old.

Senate Majority Leader Gene Suellentrop, R-Wichita, announced Wednesday that he will relinquish some of his leadership duties a day after his booking, and eventual release, in connection with driving under the influence and fleeing law enforcement after he was found driving the wrong way on Interstate 70 in downtown Topeka.
The move was made out of respect for Senate leadership, my Republican colleagues, and the entire Kansas Senate, Suellentrop said in a statement. He will step aside from the day-to-day functions of his job until matters that I am currently dealing with are resolved. I regret that this incident has caused a distraction for my colleagues and the Senate staff and, most importantly, from the important issues we are debating on behalf of the people of Kansas, the release said. It is essential that Senate leadership, our caucus, and the entire Senate be able to successfully complete the serious work that remains over the next few weeks.
Mainline Printing is suing KDL Inc., the company that owns the former White Lakes Mall, alleging the property owner neglected the property and didn’t keep it in “attractive and good condition.”
A Shawnee County District Court lawsuit said the property owner has operated in default of a Declaration of Restrictions, Covenants and Easements Development Agreement since at least 2016. That declaration was recorded around Oct. 8, 2004, and requires demolition or repairs to the property.
“No such demolition or repairs have been commenced,” the lawsuit said.
Kelly Trussell, an attorney at Sloan, Eisenbarth, Glassman, McEntire & Jarboe, said a 20-day notice was sent to KDL Inc. alerting it of the issues with the property, but nothing happened.
