Cincinnati scored first, but the D-backs blew leads of 4-1 and 8-4. The first came courtesy of a meltdown by Tyler Widener in the sixth, who gave up three runs in fewer than ten pitches. He went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk with seven Ks. Arizona retook the lead with a four-run seventh, but the D-backs bullpen couldn’t hold it, as Cincinnatti unleashed the long ball, homering no less than six times. We ended nine level, and like yesterday, the Diamondbacks exploded in the tenth. They scored six, including a bases clearing triple by David Peralta and a two-run HR for Carson Kelly. The Reds scored three and got the tying run to the plate before Joey Votto struck out to give Arizona the sweep.

Well, it was made official on the 27th. We knew about it on Christmas Eve, back in the good old days when the Blue Jays would make some news for us to write about occasionally.
