Mumbai, April 20 : Amid a clamour by all the Maharashtra ministers on Tuesday to impose a total lockdown, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that the upcoming state SSC Board exams for 2021 have been cancelled. Earlier we had declared plans to conduct the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education Class 10 exams in June. However, given the current Covid-19 situation, the state cabinet has decided to cancel the state board SSC exams this year, Gaikwad said in a statement.

Mumbai, April 19 : ExactLy 13 months after Maharshtra recorded its first Covid-19 death on April 17, the state toll on Sunday crossed the 60K mark to touch 60,473 - just short of Poland s 62,032 fatalities, health officials said here on Monday
The state s latest case tally is equally worrisome - 38,39,338, ranking below Italy s 38,79,131, which stands at No. 8 on the Worldometer.
Currently, the state has 670,388 active cases , higher than Turkey s 544,931 (No.5) active cases but lower than France 10,72,849 (No.4)
As the pandemic continues to be on deadly prowl, the state has been setting new records of fresh infections daily - the highest being 68,631 (April 18).

Mumbai, April 15 : Though a year has passed since the ghoulish mob-lynching of two Sadhus and their driver in Palghar district in Maharashtra, the politically sensitive case is still very much alive in public memory and keeps popping into headlines at frequent intervals.
The two Sadhus - Kalpavrikshagiri Maharaj (70) and his assistant Sushilgiri Maharaj (35) - and their driver Nilesh Telgade (30) were waylaid by an angry mob of tribals and villagers and were brutally lynched to death on the night of April 15-16, 2020.

Mumbai, April 9 : Amid a major vaccine-war with the Centre, it has emerged that Maharashtra continues to fly high in terms of the inoculation drive despite having nearly-exhausted its stocks, officials said here on Friday.
As per the latest data released for April 9 (today), the state has administered the highest 93,38,531 jabs, comprising 84,35,010 first doses and 903,521 second doses, making it the best performer in the national vaccination programme, officials pointed out.
The state is followed by Rajasthan with 88,07,351 vaccinations comprising 77,72,197 first jabs and 10,35,194 second doses.
