People who will receive any of the two
Covid-19 vaccines available in the country can now donate blood after 14 days of their two jabs. The
blood donation deferral period for the vaccine was revised by the National Blood Transfusion Council (NTBC) on Wednesday. TOI had raised this issue on the same day.
Blood donation deferral criteria for the vaccine is from 7 to 14 days in most countries. But in India, the authorities had set the deferral period of 28 days after one dose of vaccine. This would have created a major crisis in blood banks as majority of voluntary donors are in the 18 to 44 age group. Now, the NTBC has revised the deferral period to 14 days.

Maharashtra government failed to convince Supreme Court: BJP reacts to Maratha reservation verdict
The BJP on Wednesday blamed the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government for failing to convince the Supreme Court over the issue of reservation for the Maratha community in jobs and education.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday struck down the Maharashtra law granting quota to Marathas in admissions and government jobs, terming it as unconstitutional , and held there were no exceptional circumstances to breach the 50 per cent reservation cap set by the 1992 Mandal verdict.
Expressing disappointment over the SC s decision, former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed there was lack of co-ordination on part of the state government while making its submissions before the apex court.

Nagpur: After the
Supreme Court struck down the Maratha community reservation in government jobs and educational institutions on Wednesday, Former
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra
Fadnavis alleged that the lack of coordination among the allies of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and the improper stand resulted in the top court s verdict.
Briefing the reporters in Nagpur, Fadnavis said, The reservation was valid in the High Court and the law was passed. The case went to the Supreme Court. We had then argued before the bench of the Chief Justice that he had not granted the stay and the law had been upheld. Today s result is sad. Sometimes there is no lawyer, sometimes there is no coordination.so, the law was postponed. The case went before a larger bench when the present government did not seem to have coordination in presenting its role.
