The Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport is about to get a cash infusion.
U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine announced a total of $19-million dollars in federal funding to provide economic relief to 11 airports across Virginia.
The Weyers Cave airport is receiving just over 1-million dollars as a result of the funding.
Executive Director Greg Campbell says this was something that commercial airports across the country collectively had asked Congress to support.
The relief money was authorized under the December 2020 emergency COVID-19 relief bill supported by both the senators.

Augusta County SPCA receives over 30 dogs through Wings of Rescue program By Patrick Huddleston | January 15, 2021 at 6:35 PM EST - Updated January 15 at 7:10 PM
AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - The Augusta County SPCA was on hand at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport Friday to receive over 30 dogs, mostly puppies, from the Wings of Rescue program.
The program provides flights of animals from overcrowded shelters to less crowded shelters.
Debbie Caywood, the director of the Augusta SPCA, says this is a win/win situation. While alleviating the overcrowded shelters, the Augusta SPCA gives the community more opportunities for adoption.
