The Sheridan County Conservation District and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Sheridan County are now accepting applications for water quality improvement projects.
Acceptance is for projects under the Tongue River Regional Conservation Partnership Program, and deadline to apply for 2021 projects is Feb. 12.
The Regional Conservation Partnership Program is a USDA program that uses public-private partnerships to improve land and water resources. The Upper Tongue River Watershed is one of two projects in Wyoming that were selected for funding under the program in 2015.
According to the conservation district, the Upper Tongue River Watershed project was developed as a partnership that includes the Nature Conservancy, the Sheridan Community Land Trust, Sheridan County Conservation District and Wyoming Game and Fish.

A 15-year-old male was rescued and he and four other juveniles cited for trespassing after the youth fell down a coal chute at the old Acme Power Plant this week.
The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Volunteers from the Tongue River Fire Department, along with Goose Valley Fire, Sheridan Fire and Rescue and Sheridan Search and Rescue, were called to the scene after the youth fell about 35 to 40 feet to the bottom of the chute inside the building and became trapped.
