Solar farm proposed for Halloughton, near Southwell, rejected by Newark and Sherwood District Council

Solar farm proposed for Halloughton, near Southwell, rejected by Newark and Sherwood District Council Published: 07:30, 13 March 2021 A huge solar farm would swamp a village and cause detrimental damage to the landscape, a meeting was told. That was the consensus of members of Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning committee when discussing a 108-hectare solar farm near Southwell. The committee was told the farm, which would span 13 agricultural fields on land north of Halloughton, would power 12,000 homes for a year and amount to £30m private sector investment. A solar farm. However, this did not override members’ desire to protect the conservation area.
