Following the Federal Government’s directives on the harmonisation of citizens’ data by relevant agencies, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) had in compliance with the directives earlier put members of the public on notice.
As a follow up to that, FRSC Management has resolved that effective December 21, 2020, all applicants for the National Driver’s Licence in Nigeria must present the National Identification Number ( NIN) from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) before they can be captured for any class of the licences produced by the FRSC.
According to the press release signed by the Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem, all driver’s licence applicants are therefore, expected to present their National Identification Number (NIN) from the date, before they can be attended to, adding that there would be no waiver for anyone.

A contempt charge has been filed against the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele over his alleged refusal to order the payment of N182 billion to Ogoni people in Rivers State.
The N182 billion was awarded against oil giant, Shell Petroleum Development Company over the oil spillage experienced by the Ogoni people as a result of the activities of the company.
The plaintiffs represented by Lucious Nwosu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), filed the contempt charge praying the Federal High Court in Abuja to commit the CBN governor to prison for allegedly disregarding an order of court that awarded the money to the aggrieved Ogoni people.
A group, the Ogoni Justice Foundation for Human Rights Development has charged the Federal Government to implement the 1997 United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights and other White Paper reports on Ogoniland and the country.
Specifically, it cited the 2001 Ogomudia Report, 2003 White Paper Report of the Presidential Panel on Security, 2003 Report on First International Conference on Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta and United Nations Development Programme’s (UNEP) report.
Others are, the 2004 Niger Delta Regional Development Master Plan, 2005 National Political Reform Conference, 2006 Niger Delta Human Development and 2006 Report of the Presidential Council on Social and Economic Development of the Coastal States of Niger Delta.
