MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The Shelby County Health Department released a new health directive Wednesday that establishes limited masking requirements and lifts many restrictions on businesses.
Health Directive No. 21 “is designed to be a long-range directive that balances recommended safety measure for individuals and businesses with greatly reduced mandatory restrictions,” according to the health department.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Shelby County’s mask mandate and health directive are set to end next week.
Shelby County Health Officer Bruce Randolph confirmed that county officials plan to have the current restrictions primarily as recommendations instead of requirements.
The next health directive is set to be released go into effect May 13.

During her confirmation hearings Tuesday, Davis faced questions about the potential time limit on her tenure. Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, who appointed Davis, is term-limited and will leave the office at the end of 2023.
The new police chief said she hoped the initial 2½ years of her tenure would be so successful that the next mayor would feel a need to keep her on the job.
Her first day as Memphis chief will be June 14. She will make $230,037.60, the same as her predecessor Mike Rallings.
The Shelby County Health Department has received a supply of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. As such, clinics for adults 18 and older have begun and the vaccine is available from 8am until 11:30 am, and 1pm to 3pm at the Shelby County Health Department. You are encouraged to call the Heath Department for an appointment time to receive the single-dose vaccination, and there is no charge.
