House abated due to continuous drug activity

SIDNEY An abatement order was issued Monday morning ordering the immediate removal of all persons from the residence at 701 Monroe St. due to a continued pattern of drug activity.
According to Police Capt. Jerry Tangeman’s press release, investigators and officers from the Sidney Police Department (SPD) executed an abatement order at the Monroe Street residence Monday, Feb. 22, at approximately 9:30 a.m.
The abatement order, issued out of the Shelby County Common Pleas Court, due to a continued pattern of drug abuse behavior, specifically drug usage, drug trafficking and drug overdoses.
Men indicted on pandering charges

SIDNEY – Two men were indicted Feb. 18 by the Shelby County grand jury on charges of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and pandering obscenity involving a minor.
Bradley A. Stangel, 30, at large, was indicted on 20 charges of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, each a second degree felony. Stangel is accused of reproducing material showing minors participating or engaging in sexual activity from May 2, 2019, to Jan. 2, 2020.
Kenneth D. Marker, 25, of Minster, was indicted on 19 charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor, each a fourth degree felony. Marker is accused of downloading and possessing obscene material involving minors on Feb. 3.

Woman sentenced to prison on drug trafficking charges

SIDNEY – A woman will spend two-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty in Shelby County Common Pleas Court to a pair of felony charges of trafficking in drugs.
On Feb. 1 Judge James F. Stevenson sentenced Casey O. Hughes, 38, to two 15 month sentences with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Hughes pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs and aggravated trafficking in drugs, both of which are fourth degree felonies. She will serve the terms consecutively, meaning one after the other.
Hughes was convicted of selling fentanyl in the vicinity of a school on Aug. 28, 2019, and selling methamphetamine on Nov. 13, 2019.
