Shelby County begins Spot2 program SIDNEY A new program has been added to the tools of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office to help ensure the safety of its residents. “The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has received calls asking if we would consider a program like the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office’s SPOT program,” said Sheriff Jim Frye in a press release. “The SPOT program (Special Population Operations Team) is to increase the effectiveness of communication and interaction with residents of all ages that may have special considerations in case of an emergency call to their residence. With identifying those persons at specific residences, it will enable emergency services to know ahead of time that they may have a person with special needs and allow them to be prepared to assist those persons.”

Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich. A grand jury also indicted defendant Ethan Wells, 21, with leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence, and reckless driving. He is being held on a bond of $1 million.

D.A.R.E. Camp held Hardin-Houston Local School DARE. graduates watch as “Crazy” Craig Muhlenkamp, of Minster, juggles fire and jumps on a pogo stick at the 9th annual Shelby County Sheriff’s Office summer DARE Camp on Tuesday, June 8. This year 197 DARE graduates signed up, making this the largest group of campers yet. Students from Anna, Botkins, Jackson Center, Fairlawn, Fort Loramie, Russia, Christian Academy and Holy Angels Elementary are taking part in the camp. All involved students just finished the fifth grade. The campers learn about drug and alcohol prevention, water and watercraft safety, bicycle safety, good citizenship, good decision-making skills, and responsibilities. The camp was made possible by donations from several businesses throughout Shelby County.
